Life is All About Balance!
Habits, routine, discipline- they’re all extremely important. Implementing healthy habits allows for longevity, maintained fitness, feeling and looking good… the list goes on. However, without the fun and whimsical parts of life, we will never be fully fulfilled.
You can switch up your regular workout routine, grab ice cream with friends, or stay up a little later to spend time with family. These moments of change or breaking away from habits matter. Life is allowed to be fun- try new food, see a new city, or pick up a new hobby.
If this feels daunting to you, I encourage the 80/20 rule; this is where you eat well and stay in routine 80% of the time, while the 20% gives you the space to break away from that. Personally, I try to eat at home 80-90% of the week, but once a week, I will grab lunch or dinner out to create balance in my life. Having that ice cream cone with friends won’t ruin your progress, and skipping an afternoon walk to see friends won’t send you back either. Start learning what personal balance looks like for you, and implement it into your life!
Moments of Fun!
Here are a few of my favorite balanced, spontaneous moments that pull me out of routine and bring a smile to my face:
- A sunset walk to ice cream with my boyfriend
- Dinner and drinks with my roommates
- Attending a pop-up concert with friends
- Taking myself out to the movies
- Trying a new coffee shop
- Browsing around a local bookstore
Whimsical Recipes:
I have supplied a handful of healthy recipes on this blog to fuel your Particular Habits; however, I also want to include some fun and delicious recipes to enjoy during that 20% of the week. Let’s break them down!
Carrot Cake Latte:
Carrot cake recipes have flooded my social media pages now that spring has sprung. I’ve taken inspiration from a few videos on TikTok for a delicious Carrot Cake Latte- a fun way to switch up and enjoy your morning coffee. The ingredients and recipe are as follows:
- Double shot of espresso
- Sea salt
- Cinnamon
- Maple syrup
- Milk of choice
- Heavy whipping cream
- Trader Joe’s carrot cake cream cheese
- Start by brewing your double shot of espresso over a dash of cinnamon, a pinch of sea salt, and a teaspoon to a tablespoon of maple syrup
- Pour this double shot over a cup of milk, adding in as much ice as desired
- For the carrot cake cold foam, whisk together 4 tablespoons to heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of Trader Joe’s cream cheese
- Pour the cold foam over the latte, top with cinnamon, and enjoy!

Green Juice Marg:
One of my favorite drinks to enjoy with friends and loved ones is a margarita! I am personally a big fan of the Bar Taco green juice margarita, so this recipe takes inspiration from that! Only consume alcohol if you are above the age of 21. Drink responsibly!
- 2 oz of green juice (fresh or store-bought)
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1.5 oz tequila
- 0.5 oz Cointreau
- 0.5 oz agave
- 2 slices of fresh jalapeno (optional)
- Add everything into a shaker with a cup of ice
- Shake for 50-100 times
- Grab a glass (rim of freeze beforehand if desired)
- Strain the drink into a glass, and enjoy!
